RM of Key West’s story
The Rural Municipality of Key West No. 70 sits in the southwest part of Saskatchewan. It became a rural municipality on December 12, 1910, and its name comes from Key West, Florida. A post office served the area from 1908 until 1926.
Today the RM surrounds the town of Ogema, where the municipal office is located. Within its boundaries are the communities and localities of Bures, Dahinda, Edgeworth, Glasnevin, Kayville, Key West and Querrin. The RM also surrounds a portion of the Piapot Cree First Nation 75H. A council and an appointed administrator run the municipality, meeting on the first Thursday of every month.
